Thin Blue Line and Thick Skin

Here's to the profession who stops violence and the profession who has the most violence directed towards them.

I can totally relate to the people who are confused and shaken by the things that are happening to our world. What I can not wrap my head around is how someone could place the blame on the men and women who wake up early in the morning and late at night to protect them. I know that some of y'all will point out the facts that there are bad cops and that some people have been killed by them. While you are not wrong and I will not make excuses for those who are guilty, I should not have to point out that there are bad people in EVERY profession. As far as the number of "unarmed" people that are killed by cops that will be mentioned, you need to understand that the media thrives off twisting the story to make police look bad ( They know it will gain y'alls attention). Many of these "unarmed" people, in reality, had either dropped their weapon after the police used force,were physically stronger than the police, or had some other form of threat that caused the officers to act rightfully to protect themselves or society. While this does not cover all incidents, it covers quite a bit. Contrary to popular belief, MOST police officers are friendly, willing-to-help people.

Maybe our country's rising concern with police brutality correlates with the rising number of people in our country who lack respect for authority and do not obey the law. It is truly sad to see so many people spite hate at the men and women who will be there for us at the first sight of danger.

I want it to be known that this hate hits home for so many policemen's loved ones. My dad has been a policemen for over 20 years now. I grew up surrounded by his line of duty and his wonderful coworkers have watched me grow up. I am so honored to say that my dad is a police officer. Because of him, I have met the most dedicated and brave people in my hometown. These people are the most generous, caring people I know. In my town, they have a hayride and Halloween party in October for disabled people, a Christmas party for underprivileged children, a summer camp set up for kids in inner city schools who kept out of trouble, and an Easter egg hunt set up specifically for blind children. How dare this country mock them and make them look like soulless racists. These people put their life on the line everyday for people of all races and economic backgrounds. They set aside the fact that many people send hatred and violence their way.

These men and women, just like you, go to bed at night troubled by the things happening to the world. Despite popular belief, these men and women feel just as targeted by the public as some of the public feels targeted by them. Never in a million years would they have guessed that they would join this profession and find themselves stabbed in the back by the people they risk their lives for. So before you open your mouth or fire your weapons towards these officers, find someone else who will be there for you and your family despite the fact that you did everything in your power to take them down. A place without police is not a place of justice or safety; it is a place of constant crisis and violence.

I should not have to worry if my dad or any of his coworkers that I have known my whole life will die while working to serve and protect. People need to own up to their responsibilities and actions and stop placing blame and hate on officers. Maybe their fear and hate of police resides in the fact that they are criminals or breaking the law. If they were to look within and see that the policemen are RARELY the problem, there would be less incidents where police have to look like the bad guy to get their job done and keep people safe.

I understand that not many people have my point of view and I know that I can not push my opinion on people. I am just simply sharing this post to encourage those who spite hate to take on a different prospective. Many people, like the hollywood celebrities who have never lived a single day in reality and stepped foot in the real world, send out a message of hate at the police without understanding their duties and the many terrible things they put up with. Before you hate, get the full story y'all.

P.S. Police do more than pull people over and arrest criminals. They do a lot of things that turn out to be happy stories.
