The Waiting for Mr. Right

For as long as I can remember, I have always been the single girl and I have been okay with it. Unlike many of my friends, I did not go from one guy to another and put my heart in place to constantly be broken. After watching my friends deal with one heartbreak after another due to moving into a new relationship too fast to avoid being alone, I soon realized that I was the lucky one. My heart is very strong and my mind knows what it wants. I will not put myself in a relationship that I am not confident in or one that I am unsure of. I think the problem with many people my age today is that we all fear the title 'Single'. But being single has helped me find out who I am better than many of my friends who constantly changed depending on who they were dating. I know days like today make being single a little harder, but it will be so much more rewarding to spend a future Valentines day with someone I truly love.

Here are some reminders to my fellow single people:
o you are not broken or unloveable. Your respect for yourself and your mindset of what you want just intimidates those who are incapable of giving you the things you need.
o Use this time to discover what you like to do (and do them)! Have you always wanted to go on that trip or take that class? Do it now, while you have no commitments or restraints!
o You have the time to wait for the right one. It will all be worth it when you can love someone who loves you back and who fulfills everything you have ever wished for.
I am single this Valentines day ( just like the 18 before this, lol), but I am not without love. While I was getting ready for bed, a letter was slipped under my dorm room door. It was from one of my best friends and it made me realize that Valentines day is not just for couples, but anyone who is grateful for the love they were blessed with.
Part of her note read: "I could go on all day about all the wonderful moments we have shared in this short little while we have known each other... but most importantly thanks for being one of my best friends. Thanks for listening to me when I complain about everything under the sun. Thanks for being kind and understanding to literally everyone. Thanks for making me laugh and bringing me so much joy."
This is love. The love I give and receive from my friends is immense, and for now, this is enough to make my heart whole. I have a whole lifetime for all the other mushy, romantic stuff.

Another friend of mine made me a card with a list of her favorite things about me. I also woke up to a text from my dad that reminded me of what a person who loved me looked like.
I have been blessed with so many great friends and family members that a boy to hold my hand is something I simply do not care about at this point in my life. If he happens to come along soon, I will be ready. If he does not come around for a while, I am willing to wait.
Sincerely,
Sidney
